Notes from Franny - for those in need of Pump-in-Style Parts
The Pump-in-Style (PNS) model was discontinued by Medela New Zealand in 2011, so our availability of suitable spare parts was decreasing. For a few years we were improvising with a tube that you could cut off the end and use with the original clear plastic connector - but that is nolonger available. But many mums still need parts - often because they'd had another baby since buying the original pump and got it out of storage!
In 2021, Medela launched their new PersonalFit Plus technology with the Symphony breast pump (the rental model)- and it turns out we can improvise that to use with your Pump-in-Style..... Yippee! So the life of your pump can continue! The new boxed sets are named "Medela Symphony Double Pump Set" come with new connectors, tubes and membranes plus a few other bits and pieces like bottles and lids too, and you can choose your breastshield size. We have been advised by Medela that the tubing in the new set will be compatible with Pump-in-Style motor - you just need to cut one end off each tube so that you can insert into your motor. This tube only works with the new connector in the boxed set, it doesn't work with the original clear plastic connector from the 2011 pump.
There were also a couple of different models in the market (Pump in Style Advanced, Pump in Style Traveller), and sometimes people import them from overseas but they're not exactly the same. Overseas models will need a NZ power adapter otherwise they won't work, we also have this available.
